FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly happens at your event?
New Year's Eve in Hershey is a community, family-oriented event supported by area business, government and community organizations. Our event features both national and local entertainers, children's activities and food vendors. There are plenty of restaurants and hotels in the immediate and surrounding area.
Is your event an operation or program of HersheyPark or Hershey Entertainment & Resorts?
Although Hershey Entertainment & Resorts is a Platinum Sponsor of our event and contributes so significantly as to make it such a success, we are still a community event. For wealth of separate events sponsored by HE&R, go to www.HersheyPA.com
Is there any type of shuttle service or transportation to the venue?
Hershey Entertainment & Resorts operates their own shuttle service between their various hotels and venues. Their service, however, will end on December 31 at 6:00 p.m. If you need to get to the venue, you will have to provide your own transportation.
Where is the event held?
The event is NOT held inside HersheyPark, or HersheyPark Stadium or the GIANT center arena but rather outdoors in the PUBLIC square of the Town of Hershey, Pennsylvania i.e. ChocolateTown Square.
THERE ARE NO TICKETS
If you arrive early, you will not be able to camp or hold your place as the stage is setup right on the street. Last year, we had an estimated attendance of 12,000 people, which is one of the largest such events in Pennsylvania!
What is the address of the event?
The event is held at the square in Hershey PA (ChocolateTown Square) at the intersection of Chocolate Avenue & Park Boulevard, Hershey PA 17033. For your GPS or Google Maps, use 1 West Chocolate Avenue, Hershey PA 17033. The stage is setup just slightly North of Chocolate Avenue on Park Boulevard.
Is there an admission fee to the event?
No, the event is FREE! That's right. FREE, FREE, FREE!
Are tickets required?
Since the venue is in ChocolateTown Square, there are no gates, no ticket takers
or tickets! You didn't believe us, did you? It's FREE!
What about seating?
This concert uses festival seating, simply meaning you stand. There are no seats or chairs. It's held in our town square. You can bring a chair along to sit in, but you can't use that chair on the street.
Keep your kids warm!
Please remember to dress your children appropriately as the weather is often quite cold. Check the weather often prior to arriving as it can change last minute. Go online and check on the weather at www.weather.com. Use Zip Code 17033 (Hershey, PA).
At a minimum, children should have hats, gloves, warm coats, heavy trousers, etc. as standing in the cold for long hours is weather that only polar bears love!
Please be Considerate of Others!
Along with festival seating (no chairs, everyone stands) a number of parents will put their very young children up on their shoulders so they can see the stage. That's awesome for the kids--but not so great for the folks behind them--they're blocking the view! Some have traveled far and wide only to have their view blocked for nearly the entire concert.
There's no easy answer but maybe you can make your way to either side of the viewing area. You won't be right up front but at least you'll be teaching your children how to be considerate of others, right?
What if it rains or snows?
This event will be held rain, shine, snow, sleet, hail. You name it. In case of inclement weather, bring an umbrella! Dress warmly! The show will go on! Brrrrrrrrr.
What about restrooms?
There will be plenty of portable restrooms--including handicap accessible restrooms--placed throughout the venue for your use.
Can we make reservations?
No need! Attendance is first-come, first nearest to the stage so reservations are not needed.
What about access for the physically-challenged or disabled?
Handicapped parking is available in the parking garage which is just West of the Hershey Press Building (Houlihan's Restaurant is located in this building) next to the stage area. Additional spaces are also available near the Hershey Theatre, one block away.
There will be a special fenced-in, wheelchair accessible area near the main stage area, just west of the old Northwest Savings Bank. Ask security to guide you to this area.
If you have a special need that you wish to discuss, contact us below and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are permitted as long as the owners conform to Pennsylvania animal control laws which call for pets to be under your control at all times. Because of the crowd, leashes are highly recommended.
Will there be a meet and greet with any of the entertainers?
We get a LOT of emails about Meet & Greet. Here's the scoop:
We will let you know if there will be a Meet & Greet.
Typically, tickets for a Meet & Greet are sold on the official website for the entertainers and NOT here.
NOTE; WE OFTEN DO NOT KNOW OF MEET & GREETS UNTIL AT LEAST CLOSER TO THE EVENT.
PLEASE, PLEASE do not email us for details on the Meet & Greet IF there is one. It would be handled directly by the entertainers OR we will post it on our Facebook page. If you have any questions, use the contact information you were provided when you bought the tickets to the Meet & Greet.
